PRQ Exteriors Acquires Big Buckle Roofing, Expanding Into Arizona
GOLDEN, Colo. – PRQ Exteriors, a full-service exterior restoration company headquartered in Golden, Colorado, has acquired Big Buckle Roofing, a roofing contractor based in Thatcher, Arizona. The acquisition closed on August 27, 2026, and marks PRQ's entry into the Arizona market.
Short answer: PRQ Exteriors has acquired Big Buckle Roofing, a Thatcher, Arizona roofing company founded by Evan Baker. The deal closed on August 27, 2026, and expands PRQ, a full-service exterior company offering roofing, storm restoration, siding, gutters, solar and commercial roofing, into Arizona.
Big Buckle serves 22 communities across Arizona, from East Valley cities like Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe, Queen Creek and Apache Junction to the Gila Valley, Rim Country and the White Mountains. The company has a 4.7-star Google rating and describes its standard simply: do the job right and treat people like neighbors.
The Big Buckle Story: Built on Roofs in Safford
Evan Baker learned roofing from his dad, carrying bundles across Safford rooftops in the July heat before he was old enough to drive. Two lessons stuck with him: do the job right the first time, and treat the people whose roof you're standing on like neighbors.
Evan saw that his hometown had too few roofing options, so he started his own company in Thatcher, in the Gila Valley.
"I started this company because my hometown deserved better roofing. With so few options, I wanted to step up and be the reliable roofer you can count on." – Evan Baker, founder, Big Buckle Roofing
He built Big Buckle around a local address, crews who live in the communities they serve and one rule: nobody gets a price until someone has stood on the roof. As a young dad, Evan says he is all about hard work and building something honest.
"It's more than just shingles and nails. It's about taking pride in what we do." – Evan Baker
Off the roof, Evan is a family man and a roping enthusiast. The company's mascot is a cowboy named Mr. Buckle, and Evan's letter to customers on the Big Buckle website promises "a roof you can hang your hat on."
What Big Buckle Stands For
Evan calls reliability Big Buckle's most important value. In his words, the team prides itself on being "punctual, responsive and accountable throughout the entire roofing process."
That shows up in a few signature habits:
- Inspection-first roofing. Every job starts with a free, in-person inspection of the roof and attic, documented with photos, followed by a clear written scope.
- Photo reports and steady updates. Homeowners get jobsite photos and proactive updates from scheduling to final cleanup, so they never have to chase anyone down.
- Warranties that stand behind the work. Big Buckle backs its workmanship and materials with up to 25 years of warranty coverage and is a GAF Certified and Malarkey certified contractor.
- Custom belt buckles for referrals. Customers who refer a friend receive a custom Big Buckle belt buckle as a thank-you.
"The most unique thing about Big Buckle is that we are a small business and we're able to provide a really authentic and genuine experience for the customer." – Evan Baker

Why Arizona: A New Market Opportunity
Arizona roofs face a wide range of conditions, and Big Buckle's service area covers many of them:
- Valley heat. East Valley roofs face long, hot summers.
- Monsoon storms. Summer monsoons bring wind, hail and heavy rain.
- Mountain snow. Rim Country and the White Mountains see snow and ice, much like PRQ's Colorado and Utah markets.
- Rural communities. Big Buckle was founded to give Gila Valley towns a roofer with a local address who shows up for repairs, not just replacements.
The acquisition combines Big Buckle's local presence in 22 Arizona communities with PRQ's broader service lineup.
