After the September 18, 2026 storm crossed Davis, Weber, and Morgan counties with golf-ball hail and gusts to 78 mph, most of what it left is impact bruising and wind-lifted shingles you cannot see from the yard. We walk the roof, the flashing, the vents, and the gutters, and photo-document what we find — that record is what your insurer works from.
Utah Code § 13-50-303 requires every repair estimate, contract, or work order paid from insurance proceeds to carry the deductible-rebate prohibition in capitalized 14-point type. If the paperwork a contractor hands you does not have that notice on it, that tells you something before you sign anything.
Salt Lake City requires a permit to reroof, and if the existing roof is staying on, the application has to disclose how many layers are already there. We pull the permit in your jurisdiction — whether that is Salt Lake City, Sandy, Draper, West Jordan, or unincorporated Salt Lake County — rather than leaving it as your problem.
Class 4 is the top impact rating under UL 2218: two strikes from a two-inch steel ball dropped 20 feet, no cracking. On a bench that sees hail like September's, it is the difference between a repair and another total loss, and many carriers credit the premium for it. We document the rating so you can claim the credit.
