George of PRQ Exteriors stopped at my mom’s house and checked her roof for hail damage. There was no cost and he took photos and showed her that her roof was fine. As we chatted I told him our roof needed looked at. He drove down to my house and checked my roof. He sent me photos of my roof and showed places where the hail had hit. Fortunately, our roof was fine and we didn’t need any repairs. I very much appreciated George’s manner. He wasn’t pushy. He just wanted to check our roofs to see if they needed repairs. Because we didn’t need repairs he just gave us information for future needs. I’ve had a few people knock on my door since this last hail storm and George is the first person I felt comfortable enough with to have him check our roof.

Hail & Storm Damage FAQs
A storm passed over your address — here's what it means and what to do next. Expand any question to dive deeper.
This storm data is your first alert that your property may be at risk. The most important thing to understand is that significant, insurance-claim-worthy damage—especially from hail—is often completely invisible from the ground. The next step is to use this data to take proactive measures. The only way to know for sure if your roof was affected is to schedule a free, no-obligation professional inspection. We will assess your roof, gutters, and siding to verify the extent of the damage, if any.
Yes, absolutely. In the roofing and insurance industries, hail that is 1 inch in diameter (about the size of a quarter) is the recognized threshold for causing functional damage to asphalt shingles and other roofing components. Hail of this size and larger can crack shingles, void manufacturer warranties, and shorten your roof’s lifespan, even if it doesn’t cause an immediate leak. Our tool gives you the data to confirm you were hit by hail of a damaging size.
No, and this is a critical mistake many homeowners make.
- Leaks are a late-stage symptom. It can take months or even years for water to travel from a small, hail-damaged crack in a shingle into your home. By then, you could have significant rot and mold damage.
- Your insurance company will not contact you. It is your responsibility as the homeowner to be proactive and file a claim within your policy’s time limit (typically 6-12 months from the date of the storm). Waiting for a leak or a call from your insurer will almost certainly result in you losing the opportunity to have your roof replaced through your policy.

PRQ has been so easy to work with. As a busy mom, it means a lot. Thanks for for being efficient and thorough
Im so excited to work with prq exteriors. Ive had a few roofers take a look at my roof and most were telling me they didnt find enough damage to file an insurance claim for my hail damage. But PRQ was able to find the damage and got my claim approved that was missed by others. So grateful for their diligence.
Eric and George are awesome. They gave us an honest inspection on our roof and found no hail damage. It’s refreshing to find honest people/contractors.
Great experience with PRQ Exteriors. They are highly responsive, professional, and very easy to communicate with. They really take the time to listen to your needs and answer questions. Highly recommend them based on their excellent customer service

Wasatch Front storm response
What crossed the Wasatch Front on September 18, 2026 — and what to do about your roof now.
The September 18, 2026 storm, on the record
A severe storm moved through Davis, Weber, and Morgan counties that Friday afternoon. The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down just after 1:50 p.m. on the ridgeline running west from Francis Peak above Fruit Heights near 7,500 feet, recorded a peak 78 mph gust near Legacy Highway in West Bountiful, and logged 50–65 mph gusts north of Salt Lake County alongside golf-ball and ping-pong-size hail.
The first 72 hours matter most
Photograph what you can see safely from the ground, note the date, and keep receipts for anything you spend stopping further damage. Do not let anyone onto the roof who has not shown you they are insured to be there. Then get a documented inspection — the record is worth more than the estimate.
Most of this damage is not visible from the ground
Golf-ball hail bruises a shingle mat without removing it, and 78 mph wind breaks seal strips and creases shingles that settle back down looking untouched. A roof that appears fine from the driveway after a storm like this is the normal case, not the reassuring one.
Know the rule before the door-knock
Utah Code § 13-50-302 prohibits any residential contractor from rebating or offering to rebate any part of your insurance deductible to win the work, and § 13-50-303 requires that prohibition printed on the estimate in capitalized 14-point type. After a storm this size, you will meet people who offer anyway.
