George of PRQ Exteriors stopped at my mom’s house and checked her roof for hail damage. There was no cost and he took photos and showed her that her roof was fine. As we chatted I told him our roof needed looked at. He drove down to my house and checked my roof. He sent me photos of my roof and showed places where the hail had hit. Fortunately, our roof was fine and we didn’t need any repairs. I very much appreciated George’s manner. He wasn’t pushy. He just wanted to check our roofs to see if they needed repairs. Because we didn’t need repairs he just gave us information for future needs. I’ve had a few people knock on my door since this last hail storm and George is the first person I felt comfortable enough with to have him check our roof.

Wasatch Front roofing built for hail, wind, and snow load
You'll get the weight question answered. Salt Lake City requires a licensed Utah engineer's evaluation when a reroof adds more than 3 psf. We raise that before you choose a material, not after.
PRQ Exteriors is a licensed, insured contractor working the Wasatch Front from Ogden and Layton through Salt Lake City and the south valley to Lehi, Provo, Park City and Heber. Roof replacement and repair, hail and wind damage restoration, gutters, and commercial low-slope systems.
You get a specification written for the elevation you are actually at. A valley roof in West Jordan fights high-altitude UV and wide day-to-night temperature swings; a Summit or Wasatch County roof fights snow and ice load the valley never sees. Those are not the same underlayment, ventilation, or ice barrier decisions.
You'll receive a documented inspection, a fixed written scope, the Salt Lake City permit and any engineering the city requires handled, and a claim billed straight under Utah law.

Roofing built for Salt Lake City & the Wasatch Front
We work the Wasatch Front from Ogden to Provo — here's what valley hail, canyon wind, and Utah's claim laws mean for your roof.
September 18, 2026 showed what a Wasatch Front storm does
That Friday afternoon a severe storm tore across Davis, Weber, and Morgan counties. The National Weather Service clocked a 78 mph gust near Legacy Highway in West Bountiful, 50–65 mph gusts across the areas north of Salt Lake County, golf-ball and ping-pong-size hail, and confirmed a tornado on the ridgeline west of Francis Peak above Fruit Heights just after 1:50 p.m. Wind damage and hail bruising from a storm like that are usually invisible from the driveway — we inspect for both and document what we find.
Utah law bars any roofer from covering your deductible
Utah Code § 13-50-302 says a residential contractor may not rebate or offer to rebate any portion of an insurance deductible to win the job. It is not a gray area — § 13-50-303 requires that prohibition to be printed on every Utah repair estimate and work order in capitalized 14-point type. If a door-knocker offers to “eat your deductible,” they are offering to break the law on a document with your name on it. We bill the claim straight.
Salt Lake City permits every reroof — and weighs it
A permit is required to reroof a structure in Salt Lake City. If the old roof stays on, the application has to state how many layers are already up there. And if the new roof adds more than 3 pounds per square foot — the line you cross going from asphalt to tile or stone-coated steel — the city wants an evaluation report from a licensed Utah engineer confirming your framing can carry it. We pull the permit and handle that report when a heavier system is the right call.
Class 4 shingles earn their keep on this bench
A Class 4 shingle is the top rung of the UL 2218 impact standard — it has to take two hits from a two-inch steel ball dropped 20 feet without cracking. Along a corridor that just took golf-ball hail and 78 mph wind in a single afternoon, that matters twice: fewer total-loss roofs, and many carriers write a premium credit for the upgrade. We install them and document the rating so you can take it to your insurer.
One roof, two climates — valley and bench are not the same
Salt Lake City sits near 4,300 feet, and the market climbs from there: Summit and Wasatch County roofs above Park City and Heber carry snow and ice loads the valley floor never sees, while Salt Lake and Utah County roofs bake under high-altitude UV and wide day-to-night temperature swings that age asphalt early. The right ventilation, underlayment, and ice barrier detail on a Draper roof is not the detail a Park City roof needs, and we spec accordingly.

THE INSURANCE CLAIM EXPERTS
First, a free, honest inspection.
After a storm, the most critical step is a professional assessment. Damage from hail and wind is often invisible from the ground. Before you even file a claim, our experts will conduct a thorough inspection, documenting everything with photos, to confirm you have enough damage to justify a claim. This protects you and starts the process with clear evidence.

Check your roof status in minutes. No commitment needed.

Real Clients. Real Results.
PRQ has been so easy to work with. As a busy mom, it means a lot. Thanks for for being efficient and thorough
Im so excited to work with prq exteriors. Ive had a few roofers take a look at my roof and most were telling me they didnt find enough damage to file an insurance claim for my hail damage. But PRQ was able to find the damage and got my claim approved that was missed by others. So grateful for their diligence.
Eric and George are awesome. They gave us an honest inspection on our roof and found no hail damage. It’s refreshing to find honest people/contractors.
Great experience with PRQ Exteriors. They are highly responsive, professional, and very easy to communicate with. They really take the time to listen to your needs and answer questions. Highly recommend them based on their excellent customer service
